Logitech MX S keyboard factory engraving

Have you noticed that sometimes the letters are not arranged in the same way on a multilingual keyboard? In this message, I will try to explain to you why this happens. As a basis, I took two Logitech MX S keyboards. In the first case, the engraving is custom and high quality, in the second case, the factory engraving keyboard.

Everything is quite logical, the official Logitech factory produces a keyboard with an international English layout.

Next, this keyboard goes to, let’s say, an importer, or to a company that applies the letters by laser engraving, I’ll tell you, quite qualitatively. Since the letters of the second language are written on a ready-made universal international keyboard, where large English characters are located in the center of the key, and there is less space for writing a letter in another language, the letter is written in a smaller font and located at the bottom right of the button.

Factory engraving involves drawing letters according to the rules, that is, the letters have the same size, font and are located symmetrically on the diagonal so that it is visually more favorable for the user. Considering the high price of the Logitech MX KEYS S keyboard, I believe that the engraving should be of higher quality.

I note that the keyboard for the European market will always have an ISO layout and the American one ANSI, this means that for lovers of a long “shift” the factory engraving cannot be in another language. This is also indicated on the manufacturer’s official website.

For clarity, I made a video showing the difference between the two keyboards in white and black, the video is in Ukrainian.
